Streetcar/Streetvan rentals are to be debited when the booking is made, not after the booking ends. Streetcar announced the change to take effect on 26th October.

In Streetcar’s own words: “We are working to fully integrate Streetcar with public transport and this change better aligns us with other transport providers”. What do they really mean here? Is this customer service talk for “we charge in advance just as everyone else does”?

The cancellation policy remains the same – you can still cancel a booking up to 4 hours before it begins and the booking cost will be automatically credited back to your payment card in full.

Extra charges such as additional petrol will still be debited after your booking finishes, meaning a single booking might appear as two debits on your bank statement.
