Dokdo

Dokdo is an island owned by the Korean government and designated as a natural monument in 1982. Located in the southeast direction of Ulleungdo, it consists of 89 annexed islands in addition to the eastern and western islands. It is confirmed that people began to live around the 3rd century. During the reign of King Jijeung of Silla, Usanguk was merged into Silla, and Dokdo was incorporated as an annexed island, and it has existed as our territory in the administrative district since the Joseon Dynasty following Goryeo. Despite the end of Japanese colonial era, Japan has continued to provoke the issue of ownership of Dokdo. Currently, Dokdo Guards and lighthouse keep residing on Dokdo, and some residents have lived and been fishing in Seodo.
