GEMINI’S $5 MILLION CFTC SETTLEMENT STANDS A U.S. federal judge rejected a joint request by crypto exchange Gemini and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to undo their 2025 settlement. CONFIRMED The $5 million settlement resolved a CFTC lawsuit over statements Gemini made during the regulator’s review of a proposed bitcoin futures contract. Judge Alvin Hellerstein ruled that the parties had not met the legal standard for reopening the judgment, despite the CFTC’s change in enforcement policy. STILL UNCERTAIN The ruling preserves the settlement and injunction. It does not determine whether either party will pursue further legal action.
