The teenagers from "Las Luces del Cementerio" will be taught in a provided space that requires conditioning (walls and roof fixing, electrical improvement and securing the computers inside), the teaching staff (8 people) will donate their work so these teenagers and children can learn the tools for improving their conditions and their community, but besides the space reconditioning (for which the material is required: bricks, mortar, cement, metal roofing, paint, wiring and desks) the computers must also be bought, for this setup, the materials budget currently sets at $6800 and the computers (the budget we have is for dell optiplex 7040s, 40 of them initially, with monitors, keyboards and mouses included) add up another $9200. So far we have made arrangements that all manual labors (construction, painting, electrical wiring, and materials storage) are cost-free, but we have to raise capital. We are drafting the first project already! Join us in providing tools for vulnerable communities, this time we are planning to benefit 200 family groups in a community called "Las Luces del Cementerio" in Caracas, Venezuela. These families are very low-income and depend constantly in a combination of government subsidies and local NGOs food programmes, given a very low literacy rates among adults. So, our first step targets teenagers and children from this community that attend a local school, so we can set up a "digital learning center" that teaches these children and teenagers the use of current digital tools, beginning with Microsoft Office and Web searching, so they can enroll in a "digital assistant" program that is being set up with the assistance of local authorities, so these teenagers can work as basic asistants from the digital learning center computers, and after a couple of months they can take these computers home and assist in teaching younger community members.
